Tourism

Tourism – the best chance for development

Agriculture and cattle breeding are traditional economioc actitives of the population of the Kolašin region. The natural  resources have stimulated the exploitation and protection of forests, development of industrial capacities for wood processing and production of sawn timber, wooden building materials, parquet, impregnation of sleepers for railway tracks and telephone poles, chemical wood protection... The Factory producing aluminium – steel ropes operates as a part of Aluminium Integrated Works from Podgorica.Beside all that, certain transport and treading activities are also developed.
However, the main chance for development here is tourism. It is becoming the main economic activity of the people in Kolašin and its environs because the nature of this region is so inviting. The roads have made it accessible for the guests coming by train, plane, bus or their own cars. This is supported by the fact that tourism has a long tradition in this region going way back between the two world wars when, in the hot summers, people from the coastal and other hot towns used to come here to enjoy the blessings of the Kolašin region.
Today, the conditions for development of tourism are imcomparably better. Though the canyons of the Morača, Tara, Mrtvica, high peacs of the surrounding mountians, and the beautiful lakes ‘‘Mountain Eyes‘‘, the primeval forest of Bjelasica Mt., unique in Europe apart from Perućica in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Pusce in Poland, used to be here in the past as well. However, nowadays there are also arranged ski tracks, hotels and motels for comfortable stay, roads and paths that make all thebeauties accessible.
The offer is diverse and it can meet all tastes and needs both of the elderly and young people, both of those who want tranquility and those who seek adventuire and excitement:

By staying here a guest has all the advantages of a health resort. The mountain climate, altitude, clean air, with healt natural food guarantee everybody‘s recovery and refreshment.

For those moderate ones, there is almost an infinite number of hiking paths same as the challenging climbing routes for mountaineers. All at 1973 meters above sea level. Or to Kapela. Preobraženje Gospodnje, Ćupovi, Raskrsnica on Crna Glava at 2139 meters above sea level. Wherever you go there are breathtaking landscapes, mountain springs and beautiful vistas open up to the mountain massifs of Bjelasica, Prokletije, Komova , Sinjavina... Visits to ancient monasteries and other cultural and historical treasures are a to learn new things and to revoke old knowledge.

Rafting down the deep Tara Canyon is the ultimate experience. If your starting point is Kolašin, you can choose rafting tours of 15,20 or even 98 kilometers and different ‘‘packages‘‘ for those more and less spirited.

For hose who seek excitement in flying, paragliding is the real thing. Kolašin‘s environs provide even opportunity for a man to feel like a ‘‘bird‘‘.

Hunters and anglers have a paradise on earth here and visits to mountain summer pasture camps, riding and camping are addition to the tourist offer.

Those who love winter themes and snow sports, even during the summer season, can go to the ski – center Jezerine nearby Kolašin, only 8.5 kilometers away from the city center, with 15 kilometers of ski track for pleasant day and night skiing, since the track are lit by reflectors.
